Guiding Principals
The Healthy Fatherhood Alliance was founded on the principal that all children deserve to have active, engaged, positive fathers in their lives. The Healthy Fatherhood Alliance serves all fathers in culturally sensitive ways, regardless of race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, age, and differing abilities.
The Healthy Fatherhood Alliance serves all fathers by:
- Helping Fathers be the best parents they can be
- Helping Fathers be more engaged in their children’s lives in positive ways
- Helping organizations and businesses become more father friendly through education and support
- Connecting Fathers to educational and support resources in their community

The Mission of Boys To Men is to reduce interpersonal violence by offering programs that support the healthy development of adolescent boys, provide assistance and educational resources to boys and those who help raise them, and increase community awareness about the specific needs of boys. Boys to Men currently coordinates the meetings of the Healthy Fatherhood Alliance and facilitations twice-monthly Boot Camp for New Dads workshops.

Kids First is a Portland-based nonprofit whose mission is to help parents keep the needs of their children in the forefront during separation, divorce and re-marriage. They offer a wide range of programs for children, parents and professionals, including a drop-in support group for divorcing dads. Kids First Center is located at 222 St. John Street, Suite 101. Change. works to counter harassment, assault, and abuse through safety strategies, verbal and physical skills, increased confidence and awareness, and the promotion of healing and growth. With classes for seniors, adults, teens, and children, in workplaces, community groups, and schools, Prevention. Action. PROP – People’s Regional Opportunity Program – is dedicated to transforming the community by helping people in need build better lives. Founded in 1965, PROP’s innovative programs, such as Head Start, Early Head Start, Child Care, Women Infants & Children, the Parkside Neighborhood Center, Senior Companions, Foster Grandparents, Housing & Energy Assistance, and Community Services touch many lives in Southern Maine – from infants and children, to adults and senior citizens. Other programs, such as MYAN (Maine Youth Action Network) and The Women’s Project, reach individuals throughout the State of Maine. Real Life. Real Talk. is an effort for social change sponsored by a broad coalition of community organizations that have come together to support parents as they strive to raise sexually healthy kids in today’s sex-saturated culture. The initiative is designed to improve teen sexual health by creating a more positive social climate for communication about sexuality. At the heart of the effort are Real Life. Real Talk. events, including Sex Ed for ParentsSM programs, theatrical performances, and expert speakers; expert resources; an advertising campaign; and a website, www.ME.RLRT.org. |

The STRONG Fathers Network supports men in their efforts to be skilled active and nurturing fathers and father figures. We provide men with opportunities to learn new parenting skills while figuring out what kind of father they are and what kind of father they want to be.
