RSVP (Reducing Sexism and Violence Program) is a student-based, semester-long, training-the-trainers violence prevention project. It focuses on empowering male and female students as “bystanders” to effectively respond to, as well as prevent, bullying, interpersonal violence and harassment.

RSVP teaches young men and young women to work together to enhance school climate by standing up against violence and its antecedents: sexism, gender stereotyping, homophobia and intolerance of difference.

RSVP student leader graduates will be certified to teach media literacy and violence prevention to students in middle schools, elementary schools and other community settings.

RSVP utilizes a combination of proven, evidence-based violence prevention models to engage students (and faculty Facilitators) to play a central role in solving urgent, yet universal problems.

RSVP trainers are certified by Northeastern University’s Mentors in Violence Prevention (MVP) Program and use their nationally recognized MVP Playbook to engage students in the prevention work.

For more information on how your school or community can become involved, call Boys to Men at 774-9994 or email us at boystomen@maine.rr.com.

Maine's Boys To Men project is a stellar program for social change and the primary prevention of violence because it provides community support and specific skill development for building healthy individuals and healthy relationships.
