Honoring Dinners
What is it?
It's a way to honor someone whose life work mirrors the mission of Boys to Men.
Honoring dinners can:
- Honor a wonderful father -- someone who values his role as a parent, mentor and partner in the important work of raising children.
- Honor an adolescent boy who demonstrates a commitment to others and his community.
- Honor an adult male mentor who is committed to modeling healthy masculinity within the context of a mentor-mentee relationship.
How does it work?
Each host selects an individual to honor at their party.
Each party is asked to raise a minimum of $1,000. Money is raised in two ways:
- An admission is charged for a ticket to the party. The host will determine the cost of a ticket depending on the type of party planned. For example, at a large outdoor barbeque where 40-50 people might attend, the host may decide to charge just $20. If a gourmet dinner for 10 is planned, the host might charge $100 per person. No matter the size of the party, attracting people is not difficult if the host focuses on a list of guests who like and respect the person being honored.
- A framed tribute is created for the person of honor. Those invited to attend the party are offered a way to formally congratulate the person being honored. By sending the host the suggested donation, they can have their name listed on the award that will be presented to the person of honor at the party. People attendind the party will automatically have thier names placed on the document. Those who cannot attend, but who would like to be listed on the tribute, may do so by sending in a donation with their RSVP card.
Hosts, honorees and guests all share a great meal together while supporting the very important work of Boys to Men.
How do I get started?
The planning part is easy. Boys to Men will mail the invitations once we've received the list of invitees, coordinate the RSVP list and oversee the production of the framed tribute with all the names of those wishing to participate.
As the host, you will agree to plan and execute the party. (All expenses are tax deductible.)
